Comer Addresses Trump’s Connection to Epstein
On Thursday, Rep. James Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, minimized President Donald Trump’s supposed ties to Jeffrey Epstein during an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity.”
Comer argued that any damaging information about Trump would have surfaced, especially considering Trump’s fraught relationship with the Biden Justice Department.
“About 25 years ago, despite the chatter surrounding Donald Trump, he expelled this guy from the Mar-a-Lago club. That’s significant in Palm Beach circles, and it was done publicly, humiliating him. If that man had anything detrimental to say about Trump, we would have known it by now, right?”
“Former attorneys general like Bill Barr and Merrick Garland have said the same,” Comer noted. “If any dirt existed on Trump, it would have been leaked, given the numerous enemies he has within the Department of Justice and the so-called deep state that’s meant to investigate Epstein. I don’t believe there’s anything there regarding Trump. And I think you feel similarly—who are the real wrongdoers linked to Epstein? It’s those who kept in touch with him after his initial conviction; those are the individuals we should seriously question.”
“Continuing to associate with Epstein and Maxwell post-2010 convictions raises several questions,” he added. “We’re examining the actions of the Department of Justice. Part of my work involves reviewing unredacted documents. Who has the Justice Department questioned so far? We recently terminated someone, Les Wexner, who was a co-conspirator, but he’s already under investigation by them.”
“Our focus will now shift to those who have never been questioned by the Justice Department, and we need to explore how Epstein accumulated such immense wealth and managed to connect with so many rich, powerful, and famous individuals,” Comer concluded. “Hopefully, we can uncover some answers.”
