Gov. Jared Polis (D-Colorado) said on CNN's “Outfront” on Friday that former President Donald Trump will lie about big issues after he reposted an AI-generated image of pop star Taylor Swift.
Guest host Briana Keilar said, “I know this is a pretty odd topic, but it's also a light one. But it's also serious, because you stated in your DNC speech that you're an avid Swift fan. A group of Swifties supporting Kamala say they raised over $140,000 for her campaign and virtual rally this week. Taylor Swift was not there, but Trump is claiming the pop star is endorsing him. He reposted the AI-generated image, which you can see here. His spokesperson said Swifties for Trump is a massive movement that's getting bigger every day. This is a real influential voting group, and what do these fans think about what they're hearing from the Trump campaign?”
“Well, this is another reason why people can't trust Donald Trump on these issues, like reproductive freedom and same-sex marriage. I mean, if he's lying about little things like his support for Taylor Swift, he's also lying and misleading people about where he stands on big issues. The truth is, there is one candidate who will protect our right to marry the person we love, who will secure our borders, who will make us safe, and of course, who will protect a woman's right to reproductive choice, and that's Kamala Harris. Donald Trump can pretend that Taylor Swift supports him every day, but that doesn't hide these simple facts,” Polis said.
