If You Believe in the Rule of Law You ‘Can’t Support’ Trump

Former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told ABC's “This Week” on Sunday that voters “cannot support” former President Donald Trump if they believe in the rule of law. .

Host Martha Raddatz asked, “You heard the news this morning on X that you announced your endorsement and endorsement of Kamala Harris. Why now?”

Flake said: “Well, obviously I couldn't do much before I became ambassador. I can't participate in partisan politics, but I'm happy to participate now.”

He added, “I think Republicans especially believe in the rule of law, but it's hard to support a candidate who loses an election and tries to use the power of the president to overturn the election. I have nothing but respect. So I know that many conservative Republicans feel the same way I do and cannot support a candidate like that.”

He added, “As for tariffs, there are reasons to impose them, but pretending that imposing tariffs will result in a windfall from foreign governments goes against the grain.'' Only,” he added. And conservatives have supported free trade. ”

Flake concluded: “Vice President Harris has a chance to win Arizona, and I think she has a winning streak here.” So I think she should appeal to all voters. I believe this includes moderate and conservative Republicans who believe in the rule of law and limit government to economic freedom and personal responsibility. She should be liked by everyone and I think she will do well here. ”
