Ricky Gervais is mocking celebrities including Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Lena Dunham, Miley Cyrus, Amy Schumer, Barbra Streisand and Jon Stewart who have previously claimed they would leave their countries if voters did not support the party and leader of their choice.
“Hi everyone, I’m Ricky G, health and beauty influencer, and as a celebrity I know a lot about science, politics, and everything so trust me when I tell you who you should vote for. If you don’t vote right it feels like a hate crime and it makes me feel sad and angry. I’m leaving the country and you guys don’t want that…” Gervais said in a video on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Of course, it was all a joke.
Gervais made the official statement on Sunday as the UK election was in full swing and, on the other side of the Atlantic, the 2024 US election campaign was slowly gaining momentum.
His parody is modeled after the aforementioned Hollywood actors and follows people who vowed to leave the United States in 2016 if Donald Trump was elected president, and then those who promised to leave the country a few years later if Trump was re-elected.
Bruce Springsteen seemed to be leading the way.
In an interview with Australian media, the rock singer said he would consider moving to the outback if Trump was re-elected in 2020.

“We’ll consider it,” he said when asked if Australia was on the cards. “We love Australia. We always have a great time there. We always look forward to coming. We love the people and the geography. It’s a great place for a motorbike trip. It’s dear to our heart.”
“If Trump gets re-elected — and he won’t, and right now I expect he will lose — by that chance, I’ll see you on the next plane,” Springsteen said at the time.
