Ilhan Omar challenges the name referenced in DC immigration fraud court documents

Ilhan Omar Clarifies Name Amid Ongoing Investigation

Representative Ilhan Omar recently stated that her “real name” is “Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” after a federal court document mentioned her with a last name linked to her ex-husband, raising questions about her identity. This ex-husband has been implicated in reports as, perhaps strangely, her brother.

“Ilhan Abdullahi Omar, you know it,” she asserted, emphasizing her name during an interaction with Fox News Digital. The congresswoman was seen at the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minnesota as she headed to the Karmel Masjid for Friday prayers.

Omar’s comments surfaced following revelations from two sources acquainted with the ongoing inquiry into her background, one being a law enforcement official. They indicated that her name might actually be Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, which shares a surname with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, her former husband.

In a filing from federal prosecutors, they referred to Omar as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” suggesting that the information in the document aligns with the findings of an immigration fraud investigation currently underway.

One source challenged Omar’s assertion about her name, stating to Fox News Digital, “That’s not her real name.”

Moreover, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro filed a request to keep the federal search warrant related to Omar’s home sealed, countering several media outlets’ demands for disclosure. The motion argues that the investigation is still ongoing, which means the warrant’s details shouldn’t be revealed yet.

If it turns out that Omar has not been using her correct name, a former immigration judge noted, then every official document she completed could possibly come under scrutiny.

Omar’s spokesperson firmly rejected claims about her identity, labeling the reports regarding the name Ilhan Nur Said Elmi as “completely false” and criticizing Fox News in the process. Additionally, they denied allegations that Omar was previously married to her brother, dismissing those claims as a “disgusting conspiracy theory.”

Earlier this month, her D.C. residence faced a raid by Homeland Security Investigations as part of a probe into potential immigration fraud linked to her and her father’s naturalization process. Authorities have also issued subpoenas to family members and confiscated her cellphone.
