The daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, said she was suspended from Barnard College and has nowhere to go and nothing to eat after participating in an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University last week.

Rep. Jamal Bowman (D.N.Y.) suggested Hirschi’s suspension was in retaliation for his mother’s questions.

“The day after @IlhanMN questioned Columbia leadership’s commitment to academic freedom of expression, the school suspended her daughter?” Bowman posted online. “It’s clear what’s going on here. Our educational institutions should not engage in political vendettas.”
