Ilhan Omar Elated with Harris’s Walz Veep Selection: ‘Let’s Go’

Radical left-leaning Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Tuesday congratulated Kamala Harris on her selection as vice presidential nominee.

Breitbart News reported that Harris has chosen Tim Walz (Democrat), Governor of Minnesota, Omar’s adopted home state, as her running mate.

“Let’s go,” Omar said. Tweeted Shortly after the news broke, it was accompanied by an arm-flexing emoji and the hashtag Harris-Waltz2024.

Omar’s district is home to the largest number of Somali refugees in the country, and has shifted rapidly to the left in recent years under her leadership, similar to Walz’s own district. Documented As governor, he has pursued policies that are far from the center, a political recalculation that earned him praise from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a self-described socialist.

Omar has been a controversial figure in the House, particularly over her anti-Israel stance. She has been accused of “inciting and encouraging” anti-Israel protests in the wake of Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel in October 2023, and has called for the United States to withhold weapons to protect Israel from its ongoing war with Hamas.

Omar was expelled from her seat on the Foreign Relations Committee in early 2023 due to her past derogatory comments about Jews and anti-Israel stances.

Waltz continued to support Omar throughout her anti-Semitism controversy.

“Ilhan Omar never runs away from a challenge,” he said. Tweeted She stepped down after many of her controversial statements and positions came to light in 2020. “Her determination inspires those around her to pursue their passions even in the face of adversity. She has quickly established herself as a progressive leader in Congress.”
