The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, announced an ongoing investigation into Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota.
In a recent interview on Fox News, Pirro discussed the potential for criminal charges against Omar following a targeted raid conducted by Homeland Security Investigations at her Washington, D.C. home.
Pirro stated, “It doesn’t matter what the House does or what any agency does. We’re examining the facts. We’ll pursue them wherever they lead.”
She explained that Homeland Security has a broad mandate that includes everything from narcotics to immigration and emphasized that the raid was authorized by a federal judge. “A federal judge who respects the Fourth Amendment approved the warrant,” Pirro said.
When asked about probable cause, she affirmed that the judge would not have issued the warrant without sufficient evidence. “There’s no doubt that there was probable cause involved, especially given the high profile of the case,” she added.
Pirro then raised questions about the nature of the investigation, asking whether it concerns civil or criminal immigration issues, noting that the warrant explicitly mentions immigration.
She remarked, “There are multiple investigations underway, and I’m confident that if a crime has been committed, it will be addressed legally.”
Roberts, the Fox anchor, brought up allegations of financial impropriety against Omar, specifically discrepancies in her political disclosures. He highlighted a recent vote by the Office of Congressional Conduct recommending dismissal of the allegations.
“That doesn’t change anything,” Pirro replied. “I can assure you that this is part of an ongoing investigation as well.” She reiterated that their focus remains on the facts, emphasizing the importance of the investigation regardless of actions taken by the House or other agencies.
When asked if her office was conducting this inquiry, Pirro confirmed that it was indeed her office involved.
Following the raid on her home, Omar expressed her thoughts on social media, stating, “I’m okay. This is a politically motivated attack, a continuation of the baseless lies by Trump and his associates aimed at intimidating political opponents.” She added, “I refuse to be silenced.”
Omar’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the investigation.
In April 2026, Omar refiled her financial disclosure for 2024, with her attorney noting that previous company valuations were incorrect, failing to account for certain liabilities. She has denied any wrongdoing and attributed her situation to political persecution.
Omar clarified that the values presented in her disclosures reflected the total worth of the businesses, rather than her personal stake.
