Ilhan Omar responds to Nancy Mace's claim that she is grieving Khamenei's death

They both went there.

On Sunday, Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat, criticized Republican Representative Nancy Mace, along with fellow Squad member Rashida Tlaib, for their sarcastic remarks following the announcement of Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei’s passing.

On Saturday, Mace posted a message online, saying, “My heart goes out to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib tonight,” accompanied by a photo of Khamenei.

In response, Omar took to X, remarking, “I hope you’re not too drunk to take the staff’s advice. Neither Rashida nor I know this guy, and I’m sure he doesn’t care about us,” hinting at Mace’s behavior.

She also expressed concern regarding Mace’s alcohol consumption, saying, “Please do not drink too much as you have been warned by staff,” urging her to maintain some respect during the holy month.

Omar’s comments seemed to reference past criticisms from former staffers who alleged that Mace cultivated a toxic workplace environment.

A recent article highlighted claims that Mace drank “excessively” and even instructed staff to buy alcohol late at night. Despite this, Mace has vehemently denied the allegations, explaining that she has a genetic condition called hemochromatosis, which limits her alcohol intake.

This condition causes excess iron buildup in vital organs.

In an ongoing Twitter exchange with Omar, Mace replied, “Honey, that’s not ‘please refrain,’ it’s ‘please refrain,'” attributing misunderstandings to her staff’s backgrounds.

As Mace pursues the South Carolina governor’s office, she has repeatedly commented on the elimination of Khamenei, supporting actions against the Iranian regime. Omar and Mace have had frequent confrontations on social media over various topics.

Earlier this year, Mace sought to investigate whether Omar had married her brother, and the Minnesota Democratic Party has recently accused President Trump of authorizing actions against Iran. Khamenei’s death occurred during a coordinated U.S.-Israeli operation.

Amidst all this, Omar emphasized the need for Congress to consider the Khanna-Massi War Powers Resolution, highlighting the ongoing toll of wars fueled by false claims. She earlier noted a pattern of U.S. attacks on Islamic nations around Ramadan.

Ramadan, a significant month for Muslims, follows from February 17th to March 19th this year.

As of now, Mace’s office has not commented on the situation.
