Ilhan Omar's supposed brother-husband says he is gay

Ilhan Omar’s Controversial Marriage

The man that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) married in 2009, who is also suggested to be her brother, identifies as gay.

His name is Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. After marrying Omar in 2009, they remained together until 2017. The accumulating evidence regarding his identity as her brother is increasingly troubling. Additionally, claims that their marriage was a ruse to secure him a green card raise further concerns.

In an August paper analyzing violence against homosexuals in Africa, Elmi stated, “As a gay man of the East African diaspora, my fieldwork was never neutral.”

The paper, titled “Out in the Field: Notes on Researching Queer Violence in Kenya,” recounts his experiences interviewing subjects in Kenya. It features a variety of academic terminology, including phrases like “standpoint theory” and “fluid insider-outsider positioning.”

Reports indicate that Omar and Elmi only cohabited for the initial two years of their eight-year marriage. After he received his green card, Elmi sought permanent residence but allegedly returned to England instead of supplying the evidence required to validate the legitimacy of their marriage.

It’s noted that during the two years he shared with Omar in Minnesota’s Somali community, Elmi was often perceived as effeminate and somewhat of a family embarrassment.

Even if we step back and assume Elmi is not her brother (though I lean towards believing he is), the circumstances still suggest a dubious marriage. It arguably appears that Omar may have married a gay man solely for immigration purposes, which could amount to immigration fraud.

This situation not only sheds light on possible corruption involving Ilhan Omar but also points to systemic issues within our immigration system. This system allows individuals like Omar’s father, alleged to have committed serious war crimes, entry into the country.

Moreover, this situation raises serious questions about the role of major media outlets. This entire story wasn’t unveiled by CNN, the New York Times, or the Washington Post; it was initially uncovered by PowerLine nearly a decade ago. They faced backlash, being labeled as racists and conspiracy theorists for attempting to report the truth and fulfill their journalistic duty.

Everything about this situation feels broken and corrupt.
