UFC Fighter Ilya Topria Steps Away for Personal Reasons

UFC fighter Ilya Topria has announced her decision to take a break from competing for at least the first half of 2026 due to serious personal matters.

In June, Topria triumphed over Charles Oliveira, securing the UFC lightweight title and bringing her record to 17 wins and no losses, with 9 of those victories occurring since joining the UFC. Dana White has expressed confidence that Topria will retain her champion status despite the current challenges she faces.

On Monday, Topria shared that she is dealing with alarming allegations of domestic violence aimed at her.

“Lately, I have been under intense pressure, including threats to release false claims of domestic abuse if my financial demands weren’t met,” Topria stated. “These allegations are entirely unfounded. The truth is about evidence, not opinions.” She went on to mention that relevant evidence—like audio recordings and witness statements—has been collected and forwarded to law enforcement to address potential extortion and other misconduct.

Topria initially chose silence to protect her family’s privacy but found it increasingly important to combat “false narratives.” She added, “Many people have gone through similar experiences, and courts have clarified facts before. I am speaking out not just for myself and my family, but to show that no one should be subjected to intimidation.”

She expressed confidence in the justice system, vowing to let it reveal the truth based on the available evidence. However, she also indicated she wouldn’t comment further until the legal matters unfold.

Fox News Digital has attempted to contact Georgina Uzcategui Bader for her response. Topria and Bader share two children.

Ranked No. 2 in the UFC’s pound-for-pound list, Topria’s return to the ring remains uncertain.
