Tragic Discovery in Suffolk County

A 52-year-old man from Suffolk County was found murdered near the Long Island Yacht Club, leaving behind a series of unsettling Facebook posts just days prior. Christopher Millwater’s body was located in the parking lot of the Stony Brook Yacht Club early on Monday morning.

In one of his posts, made around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Millwater wrote, “When you die, you have plenty of time to rest, so now it’s time for a quick shower and the gym.”

His next post hinted at his troubled past, featuring a three-pronged symbol that’s often linked to recovery, unity, and sobriety. He stated, “No one can throw my past in my face. I will personally sit down and tell you my story from beginning to end. Even if it is your gossip, it is your testimony. I have made peace with everything.”

Just before midnight, he shared a final thought: “The fog is temporary, and the clarity that follows is welcome.”

Millwater’s lifeless body was found in front of 21 Shore Road around 3:40 a.m. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Suffolk County Police labeled him a “victim of violence” and confirmed he was murdered, but have not yet made any arrests or offered further details about the circumstances surrounding his death.

At Millwater’s residence, officials declined to comment. There’s still uncertainty regarding whether his eerie Facebook messages hold any connection to his violent demise.

While a good number of his posts were ordinary, showcasing typical social media behavior, some revealed his apparent preoccupation with his receding hairline and included videos of him using hair products.

Public records indicate that Millwater owned two small boats in the 1990s, though none are currently registered under his name. The area where his body was discovered serves as parking for various marinas in the affluent North Shore neighborhood, as well as a boat launch in the town of Brookhaven.

The police urge anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or to provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

In a separate incident, Irish fashion designer Martha Nolan-Oslatala was found dead on a boat at the Montauk Yacht Club in August, highlighting a concerning trend of violence in the area.
