A man suspected of being an illegal immigrant has been arrested in Virginia and charged with multiple crimes. Reportedly He kidnapped a Louisiana girl and held her “against her will.”
Just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, a Hispanic girl called police requesting assistance at a Love’s Truck Stop in Covington, Virginia, about 90 miles northwest of Lynchburg.
The press release described Castro only as an “adult male” and suggested he was in the United States illegally because Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had an immigration detention warrant out against him.
Troopers from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police were quickly dispatched to the scene and, upon arrival, located the girl who had made the call.
Few details were released about the immediate investigation into the girl’s complaint, but a press release from the sheriff’s office said, “Deputies determined that the female, who is from Louisiana, had been held against her will.”
Officers found a dark gray four-door sedan registered in Arkansas in the Love home’s parking lot, leading them to believe a man had abducted the girl and locked her inside the vehicle.
Police also quickly zeroed in on a suspect, Diego Sock Castro, who a press release described only as an “adult male” and implied he was in the U.S. illegally because Immigration and Customs Enforcement had an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention order on him. The Blaze News reached out to the sheriff’s office to learn Castro’s age and likely country of origin, but has not yet received a return call.
It is unclear where the abduction occurred — in Arkansas, Louisiana, Virginia or elsewhere — whether the suspect and victim knew each other before the abduction, or how long the suspect held the girl hostage.
Castro was arrested and charged with kidnapping, lewd acts with a minor and assault. The girl was taken to a local hospital for examination and then placed into the custody of Child Protective Services. The press release said the investigation into the matter is “ongoing.”
