An illegal alien who has been deported several times has been charged with trying to kidnap a teenage boy in Elmore County, Alabama.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Yodi Noe Centeno-Melchor, approached a 17-year-old girl as she tried to move a stroller in the parking lot of a Boys Store in the city on Dec. 31 around 5:40 p.m. suspected. Holtville, Huaca reported Tuesday, quoting Sheriff Bill Franklin.
The suspect allegedly showed the girl something on his cell phone and then told her to get into his car. However, a passerby noticed the girl's confused expression. The man walked up to the suspect, jumped into his car and fled the scene.
After the Sheriff's Office obtained surveillance footage of the incident, authorities issued a BOLO notice and were ultimately able to arrest the suspect on Friday.
According to the sheriff's office website, Centeno Melchor Paid Bail was set at $100,000 on the second-degree attempted kidnapping charge. He is being held in the Elmore County Jail.
19th Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Josh Cochran says illegal aliens should be kept in sheriff's custody until the case is completed, 1819 News reported on tuesday.
In a recent filing, he said:
The state is concerned that if the defendants are released while in ICE custody, they will be deported and will never be held accountable for the crimes they committed against child victims in Elmore County. In order to ensure that the defendant remains in Elmore County until the conclusion of this criminal case, the State requests that the court enter an order placing the defendant in the custody of the Elmore County Sheriff until the conclusion of this criminal case.
An ICE spokesperson told 1819 News that the suspect is Mexican. According to the WAKA article, ICE deported him multiple times and he was deported multiple times.
A number of sheriffs have expressed support for President-elect Donald Trump's plan to deport large numbers of illegal aliens who entered the United States, with one saying, “People are tired of this.” Breitbart News reported in November.
