Illegal immigrant accused of running over grandmother in deadly Virginia carjacking

An illegal immigrant from El Salvador is accused of running over and killing a grandmother with her car during a carjacking at a 7-Eleven in Sterling, Virginia, on Sunday.

The man stole the vehicle of Melody Waldecker, 54, of Silver Spring, Maryland, at approximately 11:39 a.m.

“This is another reminder that it is essential that federal and local authorities responsible for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws work together.”

Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melgin Aguilar-Martinez was reportedly charged with felony carjacking, Melgin said, adding that more charges are expected and that the suspect is being held without bail.

This is another reminder that it is essential that local authorities cooperate with federal authorities responsible for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said it cooperates with Homeland Security Investigations and ICE “as is customary.”

The sheriff’s office said ICE issued detention orders for 479 aliens arrested in Loudoun County for other crimes in fiscal years 2023 and 2024.
