An illegal Mexican immigrant accused of killing a 25-year-old Michigan woman during a drunken attempted carjacking is awaiting arraignment on open murder charges, according to reports.
Ruby Garcia, 25, of Grand Rapids, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the southbound lanes of Highway 131 around 11:40 p.m. Friday. FOX17 reported.

“She lit up the room with her beautiful smile and laugh,” she told Midwestern. “She loved to travel, worked hard at her job and enjoyed being with her family in her free time.”
Ruby loved plants and worked at a local greenhouse, Fox 17 reported.
“She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend,” her grieving sister told the outlet. “She will be remembered for her energy and laughter. Those who were around her will know that she made everyone laugh with her goofiness.”
Garcia added, “Her death touched the lives of so many people. Her life was taken too soon. She had so much to live her life, travel the world, have children, and so much more. I had the right to follow my dreams.”
She declined to comment on his sister’s relationship with Ortiz Vite.
“He is currently in custody. That’s all we know at this point, he is/was in the country illegally,” Garcia said.
A state police official told the news agency that investigators hope to release additional information about the case soon.
Ruby’s family has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover funeral costs.
“As you all know, on the night of March 22, 2016, our precious little sister was taken away from us. Due to the sudden loss, we had unexpected funds to spare, so we opened this account. We would like to ask you to make a donation so we can provide her with the services she deserves,” they wrote in the fundraiser.
The family added: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us during this difficult time and appreciate all the love.”
