Illegal immigrant and TikTok user Carlitos Ricardo Parias shot by US Marshals

An undocumented immigrant was shot and killed in Los Angeles after allegedly crashing his car into a federal agent. This individual, known as Carlitos Ricardo Parias, gained fame on TikTok under the name Richard L.A., where he amassed over 130,000 followers.

On Tuesday, during a tense situation, he was shot after a scuffle with law enforcement. Parias was recognized for tracking and recording ICE agents as they detained suspected illegal immigrants, gaining substantial views and engagement on his videos.

At 44, Parias had a history involving previous arrests and reportedly fled from custody before. Authorities indicate he drove his Toyota Camry into a law enforcement vehicle following a traffic stop before the altercation escalated.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essay stated that during the incident, “The agent ultimately opened fire, and Mr. Parias and the deputy were struck and injured by the bullet.” Thankfully, both Parias and the Deputy Marshal are expected to recover.

Initially charged with assaulting a federal officer, Parias is set to make his first court appearance in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he faces a potential eight-year prison sentence if found guilty.

In response to the events, City Council member Karen Price acknowledged Parias, despite his legal troubles, calling him a vital part of the community and praising his work as a citizen journalist. “Richard is a pillar of our community and a fearless citizen journalist whose authentic storytelling has consistently uplifted the unheard voices of South Central Los Angeles,” she remarked, noting his unfiltered approach has built him a loyal following.
