According to the report, an illegal immigrant was found guilty of raping and murdering his Maryland mother after a ju judge deliberated on Monday afternoon in less than an hour.
Victor Martinez Hernandez, 24, was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree rape, first-degree sex crimes and lures after Morin, 37, was murdered along a trail about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.
The conviction came after less than an hour of deliberation, WBFF reported.
According to the station, Martinez Hernandez was able to spend the rest of his life in prison.
Harford County State Attorney Allison Healy said he would seek his biggest sentence at a post-verification press conference.
“The incident rocked the Harford County community and took away the family of their daughters, sisters, mothers and friends,” she said during the briefing. Streamed by Wbal.
Healy was not surprised at how quickly Monday’s conviction was returned. It was noted that the DNA recovered from Morin’s body was consistent with Martinez Hernandez.
“The speed of the verdict speaks to the strength of the evidence in the case,” she added.
“This was an airtight example.”
Healy said Morin “fought for her life” during the violent struggle.
“She was maliciously beaten, raped and eventually murdered at the hands of the defendant,” the prosecutor added.
Morin’s lawsuit won national headlines during the horrifying murder as it was another example of illegal immigrants committed shocking crimes as the Biden administration refused to deal with the chaos at the border.
“They harmed all American citizens and placed all American citizens, especially the most vulnerable, women and children,” Patricia Morin, the mother of the victim, previously told the Post.
Martinez Hernandez was captured in Tulsa, Oklahoma in June 2024, following a national manhunt, and his trial began earlier this month.
Morin was on the MA and PA trails of Bel Air when she was dragged into the forest and attacked. Her badly beaten body was later found in a dark vert and her car was still in the car park.
Police say the now-convicted murderer has been living illegally in the United States since February 2023.
He is also accused of violent family invasions in Los Angeles, and the young mother allegedly committed several heinous crimes a few months before the heinous murder.
Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Garler said “the monster” deserves death penalty, but state lawmakers have banned executions.
“It should not be political, but the mistake here is the immigration system that allowed this person to illegally enter our country, stay in our country and commit crimes in Los Angeles and here in Harford County,” he said.
Morin’s case is one of several famous murders where illegal immigrants are either convicted of a crime or are to face trial.
University of Georgia student Laken Riley was killed by an illegal Venezuelan immigrant convicted of her murder last year, with the two migrants allegedly murdering 12-year-old Houston girl Jocelyn Nungarei.
