An undocumented immigrant who has been deported five times has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a 10-year-old boy in Texas, according to reports.
Rogelio Ortiz, 50, was arrested by Midland police last week and charged with fatal hit-and-run after he allegedly hit the boy with a black truck on the afternoon of Feb. 8. The victim was hit and run in 1900. A block of South La Mesa Road in Midland, about 520 miles northwest of San Antonio.
The boy, named Alex Wise by the school, was airlifted to hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries the next day, police said.

Ortiz is in immigration custody and has been deported on at least five separate occasions, according to CBS7. His identity was confirmed by fingerprints taken during his initial abduction.
Ortiz also faces a DWI charge, according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office website, but it’s unclear if this is related to the hit-and-run.
The boy’s aunt has started a GoFundMe to raise money to pay for Wise’s funeral expenses. As of Saturday, February 17th, she has received more than $22,000 in donations on her GoFundMe.
“Eiji was the sweetest, coolest, funniest boy I’ve ever met,” Wise’s aunt wrote.
One donor gave $10 and said he was a friend of Wise’s. Wise was a student at Travis, a public school dedicated to excellence and achievement (IDEA).
“I knew Alex was my friend, he was a really great friend.” [and] He always tried to make everyone laugh, was always happy and made everyone’s day.
“We all miss him so much… Even those who barely knew him were crying on that sad day because he was wonderful to everyone. He was so sweet and caring. You were just a great kid and a great friend. We will miss you, Alex, fly high. “
A memorial fundraiser for Wise will be held Saturday, according to IDEA Travis. Last Monday, Wise’s family and school held a balloon release in his memory at the school’s outdoor basketball court.
