Illegal immigrants arrested in Florida for sexual crimes against a child

A trio of undocumented immigrants were arrested in a wealthy Florida county last week on suspicion of child sex crimes, police said.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrested three suspected illegal immigrants from Honduras on Friday.

The sheriff's office on Monday identified the suspects as Selvin Lopez-Lopez, Eric Lopez-Lopez and Jesselson Lopez-Lopez. The sheriff's office has not said whether the two men are related.

The Lopez-Lopez trio was arrested on “numerous counts of lewd and lascivious battery,” which is aggravated sexual assault of a minor under the age of 12, according to the sheriff's office.

Police said the “despicable acts” took place between August 2024 and the time of his arrest last week.

Investigators determined that Selvin and Eric Lopez entered the United States illegally in 2021 and turned themselves in to Border Patrol. They were told to ask for a court date, but they never responded, the sheriff's office said.

Jesselson was accused of illegally crossing the border in 2023 and was given a trial date in 2028.
