Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker has reiterated his support for any state or federal investigation into Tiffany Henyard, the notorious Democratic “supermayor” from the village of Dalton.
During Wednesday’s event, a reporter asked Governor Pritzker if the state has ever considered “stepping in” to address Henyard’s controversial corruption allegations.
“We have been considering whether we should direct resources to the state police and their efforts to combat corruption, or whether we should ask the attorney general to do so.” Pritzker responded:“The reality is there are already two pretty significant investigations underway. We will support them in every way that we can, but the question is, do we want everyone to be pitted against each other in those investigations, or do we want two joint efforts to get to the facts?”

Pritzker also noted that the FBI and former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are currently investigating Haynard’s actions.

“I think both agencies are extremely competent in investigating this investigation and getting to the truth, and we will support them,” Pritzker said.

Governor Pritzker’s response came after a chaotic town hall meeting on June 3 in which critics and supporters of Governor Haynard got into a heated argument. Police were forced to stop the altercation before it escalated into violence.
Henyard accused her opponents at the time of following a political smear campaign against her by the media.
“You believe fiction, a myth,” Henyard said.

The meeting was originally intended to see Dalton trustees vote to reinstate former Mayor Lightfoot to investigate Henyard after the mayor rejected the investigation in March.
Mayor Henyard has been accused of financial misconduct and weaponizing police attacks, and critics have called him “America’s worst mayor.” Recently, he was allegedly sexually assaulted by one of his associates during a trip to Las Vegas, with the alleged victim claiming he was fired after coming forward. Mayor Henyard’s cancer charities have also come under scrutiny.

The FBI announced its investigation into Haynard in February and subsequently served two federal subpoenas seeking employment records, personnel files and disciplinary reports for 25 Dolton employees, including three police officers and Keith Freeman, the village manager and Haynard’s top aide.

The village then hired Lightfoot as a “special investigator” on the Henyard case, paying the former village chief $400 an hour.
