Illinois Lieutenant Governor’s Campaign Ad Sparks Controversy
Juliana Stratton, the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, has launched a new Senate campaign ad that has certainly turned heads.
The ad showcases various residents from Illinois candidly expressing their disdain for Donald Trump, with the standout line being, “Fuck Trump. Vote for Julianna.” Stratton then chimes in, “They said it, not me. I’m Julianna Stratton from South Chicago. I’ve spent much of my life on the sidelines and I’m not afraid of those who aspire to be dictators. My run for the Senate is a stand against Donald Trump. I aim to abolish ICE and ensure he is held accountable for his actions.”
She wraps up the ad by declaring, “Like they said, Trump sucks,” and invites a chorus of supporters chanting in agreement.
Critics, including Blaze TV Host Jason Whitlock, have raised eyebrows at her approach. Whitlock pointed out the oddity of a 60-year-old woman and mother of four resorting to such language to challenge Trump.
BlazeTV contributor Shemeka Michelle expressed disappointment, stating, “Seeing this again makes me feel embarrassed, especially as a Black woman.” She believes this approach does little to advance important conversations, adding that it feels more delusional than constructive.
Michelle questioned how someone from the South Side of Chicago could focus on Trump when their community faces its own pressing issues, like violence and crime. She observed that many locals seemed to welcome ICE’s presence, contrasting it with complaints about illegal immigrants impacting community resources.
In her view, this disconnect suggests that Stratton either isn’t listening to her constituents or simply doesn’t care, claiming the ad revolves more around advancing her political ambitions rather than addressing the community’s true needs.
