Officers from the Macomb, Illinois Police Department were shot and seriously injured while executing an arrest warrant Wednesday near Western Illinois University.
According to the police department, two officers were executing a warrant in the 300 block of North Normal Street when shots rang out.

The officers were treated at area hospitals and are in serious but stable condition, police officials said.

The incident came on the same day that a 14-year-old student opened fire at a Georgia high school, killing four people and injuring several others, including a teacher.
