‘I’m a knucklehead at times’: Tim Walz lied about attending deadly Tiananmen Square protests

Tim Walz may have lied about going to war, but after J.D. Vance's performance at the vice presidential debate, he finally has a real combat story to tell.

“Tim Walz was fidgety and a little confused about things. He was extremely nervous right before, and I think after a while, he started to feel a little better,” Rubin Report. Dave Rubin commented:

Rubin said that “the moderators weren't terrible” and the debate wasn't as bad as “the last time we saw 3-1,” but that “they're just Democratic activists. It was obvious.”

However, host Margaret Brennan still criticized Waltz's absurd lie that he had participated in the famous Tiananmen Square protests in Hong Kong, China.

“You stated that you were in Hong Kong during the deadly Tiananmen Square protests in the spring of 1989, but Minnesota Public Radio and other media reported that you were not actually traveling to Asia until August of that year. “Can you explain that discrepancy?” Brennan asked Walz.

Waltz's answer didn't help his case.

“I grew up in small rural Nebraska,” he began, before explaining that he had a passion for teaching and “got the opportunity to travel to China in the summer of 1989.”

“I wasn't perfect and sometimes my fingers crooked, but that's always been the case,” Waltz continued. “I talk a lot and sometimes I get caught up in the rhetoric, but being there, the impact it had, the difference it made in my life. I learned a lot about China.”

“Governor, just to follow up on that, the question is, 'Can you explain the contradiction?'” Brennan interrupted Walz's rant and asked again.

“All I said about that was that I got there that summer and I misspoke about this. So I'll do it, that's what I said.” So I'm a Democrat. “I was in Hong Kong and China during the American Civil War movement, and I went there and learned a lot from there about what it takes to govern,” Walz said.

Rubin can't believe it.

“Why do these people lie about everything? Why do they lie about things that are easily debunked?” he asks.
