Former CIA Director Unaware of Investigation Details
John Brennan, the former CIA director, mentioned on MSNBC that he’s puzzled about the federal investigation into his actions. He and former FBI director James Comey are currently being scrutinized for possible fraud tied to Steele Dossier.
During his appearance on “Deadline: The White House,” Brennan stated he has not had any communication with investigators, despite the active inquiry. “If they’re investigating, it seems like people usually get questioned. I’m being asked about it. But, I haven’t had any contact with them. I’ve testified before various Congressional committees countless times,” he commented. “We’ve consistently explained our approach throughout this process, ensuring we adhered to our intelligence responsibilities and didn’t interfere with the election.”
Brennan emphasized that the aim of the intelligence community is to maintain the integrity of the electoral process, not to influence its results.
“It was certainly a difficult period, but I believe the efforts of those gathering intelligence prior to the election, as well as the analysts within the Intelligence Community, clearly illustrated our commitment,” Brennan expressed. “So, once more, I’m not entirely sure what they’re looking into regarding me.”
Meanwhile, current CIA Director John Ratcliffe has reportedly presented evidence of alleged misconduct by Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel. This evidence stems from a 2017 declassified review of the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which identified “procedural anomalies” that reportedly deviated from established protocols.
Brennan is also accused of making a misleading statement to Congress in 2023, suggesting that the House Judiciary Committee rejected the inclusion of Steele Dossier in the ICA. However, new information from Ratcliffe indicates that there was actually a push for its inclusion.
In 2018, Comey testified that he had not reviewed key documents before the FBI sought a warrant against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. He later stated in a 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that the FBI hadn’t informed him about issues surrounding Igor Danchenko, who was the main source for the dossier’s author, Christopher Steele.
