The Texas High School principal, accused of threatening to kill a colleague, was kicked out of his position last month after an internal investigation determined the imposing comments were reliable, the district announced.
Marshall Lee Myers, who was employed by the Natalia Independent School District, was fired last year after unanimously agreed that educators had violated school policies when he imposed dangerous remarks. The agency was confirmed on Monday.
“If anyone kills my son's college record, I'm going to kill you all,” Myers told district employees on September 26, 2024.
The threatened staff reported the incident to the district, claiming their safety was at risk. A second worker is moving forward as witnesses, the Natalia-based school said.
Authorities added that educators received similar punishment for private cases in 2023, and authorities said the current principal was placed on paid administrative leave immediately as the district began an investigation. .
“After an investigation at a properly called board meeting on October 10, 2024, the superintendent recommended the board to terminate Dr. Myers' employment,” the district said in a statement.
“At that meeting, the board voted in favor of the proposed dismissal.”
Myers has filed a hearing before an independent hearing examiner to challenge the board's decision after seeing him end before his contract expires. requested, the district said.
The hearing was held from Jan. 8 to 10, with an examiner who was appointed by the Texas Secretary of Education, according to the district, with evidence and results in support of the district.
The board officially voted to drive Myers away during the January 31 meeting.
“Natalia ISD is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment for all employees and a positive learning environment for all students,” the district said.
“The threat of violence has no place in the workplace. The district will take prompt and decisive action to protect the safety and well-being of staff and students.”
