Joy Behar told her co-stars on ABC’s “The View” on Thursday that she was “angry” that actor George Clooney wrote an op-ed calling on President Joe Biden to step down during November’s Democratic nomination race.
Behar asked, “Couldn’t George Clooney have just told him that directly?! Would he have to write an op-ed?”
She added: “The World Bank said last month that the US economy under Biden is now lifting the overall global economy. Why doesn’t George Clooney mention that in his op-ed? I’m pissed at George Clooney. We were dating. I wish we were.”
Co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin said, “I respectfully disagree that Joe Biden’s feelings are less important than the country. This is not a media issue. This is not a narrative. This is a lifelong Democrat who wants to beat Donald Trump, who knows how to win an election, and who is saying that as things stand, Joe Biden can’t win.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin said, “I’m disgusted that George Clooney did this. I’m disgusted that George Clooney put this dirty secret out there to the world. I think these conversations are happening.” [and] With our democracy at stake, I believe the meeting should take place, but it should be private and with the commander in chief, for whom we have the utmost respect.”
