I’m not a serious offender

George Santos made a heartfelt plea to President Trump on Thursday night, asking for forgiveness from his seven-year prison sentence related to fraudulent campaign donations. He acknowledged that he is “not an altar boy” but, nonetheless, sought the President’s mercy.

“Whatever the President can offer, I will accept. Just a commute or any act of generosity,” Santos said during an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” He also mentioned that he has not been a fan of pardons until recently.

With tears in his eyes, he implored, “President Trump, I would really appreciate it if you could consider me.” It was a moving moment for the former Long Island politician.

Feeling the weight of his situation, Santos remarked, “I’m not an altar boy, yet I’m not exactly a hardened criminal.” He was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison by Judge Joanna Seibert in Central Islip Federal Court and ordered to pay $373,000 after pleading guilty to wire fraud and identity theft.

During his congressional campaign in 2022, he scammed numerous donors, including friends and family, while also filing false campaign finance reports to misrepresent his contributions.

“I want to clarify, this isn’t about making a political pitch. I’m just trying to be honest,” he expressed during the interview.

Trump’s recent actions in Washington, D.C., have drawn attention, and Santos noted that US lawyer Ed Martin is handling matters related to pardons and commutations.

“Honestly, I don’t think anyone understands the struggles with a weaponized Justice Department better than Trump,” he added.

In his emotional appeal, Santos made it clear that he’s feeling overwhelmed by the reality of a lengthy prison sentence for what he termed “first-time criminals in the campaign.”

This news piece reached out to representatives from the White House and Martin for additional comments.
