On Friday's broadcast of “CNN News Central,” Sen. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) told a comment from California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) that “You have to stand on principles and make sure everyone is treated equally. I'm not scaling down from this issue. I rely on the idea that these issues are made by Republicans.
Wasserman Schultz said, “It's the American bedrock principle to make sure everyone is treated fairly and equally. And we shouldn't be far from it. But on the other hand, what we really need to focus on is affordability, how the economy impacts, and how prices affect people at their kitchen tables.”
She added: “I will not reduce to anyone from this issue. I am the vice-chairman of the Council of Equality Caucus and Equality PAC. I have one of the largest LGBTQ+ groups in the country. So we must stand on principles and ensure that everyone is treated equally. I am not reducing from this issue. I rely on the idea that these issues are manufactured by Republicans.
