Vice President Kamala Harris addressed a pro-Palestinian protester at the Michigan Democratic Party Legacy Dinner on Saturday night, insisting that she values and respects her “voice,” as the protester was removed from the stage.
Vice President Harris was the keynote speaker at the Detroit event, where she spoke about key campaign themes as the November election approaches, Fox 2 Detroit reported. “We mourn every innocent life lost in Gaza, including those tragically killed today. For the past eight months, President Biden and I have worked every day to end this conflict,” Harris said, just before protesters could be heard shouting at the vice president.
“I’m just speaking up,” Harris responded. “I appreciate and respect your voice, but I’m just speaking up.”
As protesters were escorted out of the room by several staff members, some could be heard yelling “this is genocide,” a reference to war.
“We have worked every day to ensure Israel’s security, bring all hostages home and end this conflict. [ends] “We will end the continuing suffering of the Palestinian people and ensure that the Palestinian people enjoy their right to self-determination, dignity and freedom,” Harris continued.
