Backlash Against Evansville Farm’s Tribute to Charlie Kirk

A farm in Evansville, Indiana, has come under criticism from some groups for creating a corn maze in honor of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was killed in 2025. Despite the backlash, many have come to the defense of the family-run farm.

Goebel Farms designed the corn maze to depict Kirk, who was known as a Christian, husband, father, and advocate for free speech among conservatives. They shared images of this creative project on their website, as reported by Tristate Homepage.

In a social media update, the farm owners stated, “Our 2026 corn maze honors Charlie Kirk and his belief that disagreement should lead to conversation—not division or violence. We hope it encourages people to listen, ask questions, and keep talking, even when we disagree.”

However, they faced a wave of negative reactions, including unfavorable Google reviews. According to Tristate Homepage, the farm’s owners noted that some of these reviews were reported to Google for violating its policies.

The farm later addressed the situation, aiming to clarify their motive for honoring Kirk. Their message acknowledged that Kirk was tragically killed while engaging in public discourse, stressing that in a nation built on free speech, no one should die for sharing their political views. They emphasized that while ideas can and should be challenged, violence is never an acceptable response.

“Goebel Farms is a family business, not a political organization,” they continued. “Our hope remains simple: that Americans can speak openly, disagree honestly and challenge one another’s ideas without hatred or violence—and that our community can continue treating its members with dignity and respect.”

As news of the backlash spread, many individuals on social media expressed their support for the farm. One person commented, “People are just f—ing awful in this world! This is where I live at!! Love this farm SO much!! I will definitely be going through the Charlie Kirk maze this year!”

Another user shared their excitement, stating, “Looks like we’re doing a road trip to Goebel Farms in Southern Indiana this fall! We [heart] Charlie Kirk and will support this farm!” One more added that Goebel Farms should expect a surge of visitors coming to support them.

Kirk was tragically shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. His death drew condolences from many across the globe, while some individuals reacted to the news with celebration.
