With the 250th anniversary approaching, various countries are taking time to reflect on America’s significance globally.
As the celebrations unfolded overnight into July 4, a series of clips and photos came to light showcasing displays of red, white, and blue.
The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, shone brightly with the words “USA 250”. This lighting form was part of a broader summer initiative by the City of Paris to honor the historic bond between France and the United States, according to a tweet by Olya Scootercaster.
The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo also joined the festivities, hosting Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike for the occasion.
The celebration took place on Odaiba, an artificial island known for its shopping and entertainment offerings. A bridge there, the Rainbow Bridge, was lit in American colors, matching the illumination of the Tokyo Tower.
Romania’s Foreign Minister Toiu Oana conveyed her wishes on Twitter, saying, “Happy American Independence Day, everyone!” She shared pictures of Romanian landmarks adorned in colors symbolizing American patriotism.
In her message, she expressed warm wishes to the American public and their partners globally.
“As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we reflect on this historic moment and the principles that continue to inspire generations in their quest for freedom and democracy.”
She added that the Declaration remains a beacon for promoting freedoms and values that support democratic societies, emphasizing the universal aspiration for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
President Donald Trump made a statement regarding this significant event:
“Two hundred fifty years ago, the founders gathered in Philadelphia to fulfill their destiny: the liberty and independence of the United States.”
He continued, stating that these patriots, on that sweltering day in Pennsylvania, signed a foundational document, committing their lives and honor to uphold the idea that all men are created equal and entitled to life and liberty. “This act birthed a nation and established principles that led to peace and prosperity,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, celebrations are set for Washington, D.C., where a fireworks display featuring 850,000 fireworks will take place, billed as the largest in U.S. history.
