Iman Shumpert skips ESPN podcast to celebrate with Knicks fans

After the Knicks’ Game 4 victory, Iman Shumpert had a different agenda.

Instead of participating in an ESPN podcast, the former Knicks guard opted to celebrate with fans outside Madison Square Garden. This was after the Knicks pulled off a remarkable comeback against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.

Shumpert was supposed to join the podcast “The Hoop Collective,” but he chose to head to 7th Avenue alongside J.R. Smith, soaking in the excitement with fellow fans.

Clips shared on social media captured Shumpert smiling and high-fiving in the midst of an enthusiastic crowd, fully embracing the festive atmosphere as Knicks fans flooded the streets.

He was lively, holding up five fingers while declaring, “Knicks in Five,” clearly in no rush to return to other commitments.

The 2011 first-round draft pick cherished the moment, mingling with the fans who had welcomed him during his time in New York.

This celebration followed an incredible game where the Knicks overcame a 29-point deficit to edge out the Spurs 107-106, taking a 3-1 series lead in the Finals.

7th Avenue turned into a full-blown Knicks party, and for Shumpert, it highlighted the strong connection he still holds with the city.

He spent four seasons with the Knicks after being selected as the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, becoming known for his defensive skills, energy, and distinctive style.

Later, he won a championship with the Cavaliers in 2016 alongside Smith, but the city never forgot him.

That night was particularly special, with every Knicks fan eager to be part of the celebration.

The Knicks are now heading into Game 5 in San Antonio, poised to capture their first NBA title since 1973.
