Immediate 2025 NBA Draft evaluations for each selection, beginning with Cooper Flagg to the Mavericks

The conversation around the 2025 NBA Draft class has been intense over the past year, but opinions have varied significantly, especially after Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper were selected as the top two picks. The wait is finally over, as draft day has arrived, putting an end to speculation about how certain players will mesh with specific teams.

There’s a clear decision at the top of the draft. Flagg is set to take on the role of a franchise player for the Dallas Mavericks, who recently traded their previous cornerstone, Luka Doncic. Meanwhile, Harper will join forces with San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama, hoping to form a winning duo for the Spurs. After these picks, though, the draft gets a bit unpredictable. The Philadelphia 76ers hold a crucial position at third overall, and projecting beyond that point is quite tricky.

Take a look at the rankings for the top 60 prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft. You can find detailed articles on Cooper Flagg and Collin Murray-Boyles as well. I’m not including three highly regarded players who seem to be falling in this class, as well as three under-the-radar options I’m intrigued by. Also, check out the first draft boards from 2025 that were published the day after the 2024 draft to see how predictions from last year have evolved. This is our final mock draft.

We will provide real-time grades for each pick, so keep checking this post for continuous updates and analysis as all selections are made. Let’s dive in.

1. Dallas Mavericks – Cooper Flagg, F, Duke

Grade: A+

Flagg is regarded as one of the most impressive prospects I’ve evaluated since starting draft coverage in 2014. He meets all the criteria for a future franchise player. With an exceptional build suited for an NBA forward, Flagg combines physical prowess with an outstanding mental edge. Even when he was the most skilled player on the court, he played with an intensity that stood out. This past season, he was undoubtedly the top player in college basketball, even at just 17, only three years post-high school. He’s about to be the youngest player in the NBA but is expected to contribute right away alongside Dallas’ Anthony Davis. The Mavs, who won the lottery, seem to have recovered well from their less-than-ideal trade involving Luka Doncic. It’s also likely good for team management that Flagg is a solid defender, which might help keep him from being traded away.

2. San Antonio Spurs

3. Philadelphia 76ers

4. Charlotte Hornets

5. Utah Jazz
