At a recent event hosted by the widow of a murdered activist, Erica Kirk, a protester dressed as Charlie Kirk staged a disturbing display, mimicking his assassination while the crowd chanted that he “deserved to die.” This occurred during the Turning Point USA conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The demonstrator, wearing a head covered in paper that resembled the slain podcaster, collapsed on the floor, seemingly mocking the violent event that had transpired last September. This act took place in front of attendees at the Turning Point USA Women’s Leadership Summit on Friday, shortly after someone had been charged with threatening Erica Kirk’s life at a prior event.
Amid the chaos, a man using a megaphone yelled accusations at the conference participants, claiming they were “protecting pedophiles” and “Nazis.” Social media footage showed other protesters exulting in Charlie Kirk’s assassination, chanting “You deserve to die!”
The protestors then joined in booing Erica Kirk, 37, as she led the summit, a position she took over from her late husband as CEO of Turning Point USA. Inside the San Antonio Marriott River Center, Erica encountered further heckling.
“Erica Kirk protects pedophiles!” shouted one woman before being escorted out. In response, Kirk paused her speech to address the heckler, encouraging women to change their lives and pursue genuine happiness.
“It’s crucial to remember that happiness is fleeting, and I hope you find it,” she responded to the heckler. Kirk continued, emphasizing the importance of loyalty and the necessity to pray for one’s enemies: “This is a perfect example of the need to pray for those who feel their lives lack meaning.”
Despite threats directed at her life in the lead-up to the summit, including bomb threats, the event proceeded as scheduled. Police arrested Jacob Wenske, 26, who faced multiple felony charges related to making terrorist threats, which intensified national fears surrounding the event.
