islamabad:

The President of Pakistan's Senate on Sunday accepted the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former finance minister Shaukat Tarin from the Senate, Dawn News reported.

Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf leader has announced his permanent retirement from the party and politics, citing financial and health reasons.

He said the past two-and-a-half years had been “extremely difficult” for him financially and due to “deteriorating health conditions” due to “two coronavirus infections.”

“Therefore, at the urging of my family and friends, I have decided to permanently retire from active politics and move on,” Tarin said, resigning from Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf and Senate. Then he added.

Dawn News, citing an official statement from the party leader, reported that Mr. Tarin met Mr. Sanjrani in Dubai and submitted his resignation, which was subsequently accepted by the Senate President.

Tarin was appointed finance minister by Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf government in 2021. However, his constitutional term ended on October 16 as he was not elected to parliament, after which he was appointed financial adviser to the prime minister.

Additionally, Mr. Tallinn was elected to the Senate and subsequently returned to his duties as Minister of Finance.

Tarin's resignation is a major blow to Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf, which has already been reeling from numerous leadership resignations since May 9, when violent protests erupted following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Dawn News reported that.

Those who left include prominent figures such as Usman Buzdar, Ali Zaidi, Pervez Khattak, Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, Asad Umar, Usman Dar and Farooq Habib.
