Former New York Giants defensive end Josh Mauro was found dead after a night filled with cocaine and partying with several women, including a dancer, just before his tragic passing earlier this year. This information comes from a Phoenix police report obtained by the California Post.
The report indicates that Mauro met the dancer in mid-April, roughly a week before he died, and invited her, along with a friend and two other women, to his home in Arizona early on April 23.
Upon her arrival, the dancer stated that Mauro and a friend immediately began using cocaine, with everyone drinking tequila and listening to music. Later, she mentioned that several hours after the festivities began, she and the other women went to an upstairs bedroom to rest while Mauro and his friend remained downstairs.
When she woke up, she discovered Mauro unresponsive on the floor. She quickly called emergency services and tried to revive him.
The dancer described Mauro as being happy and in love prior to this incident, mentioning he had been on a binge for about four days. She also noted he frequently experienced nosebleeds and excessive sweating after using cocaine.
Found near Mauro’s body were a bottle cap containing a white substance, a powdery substance next to a rolled-up dollar bill, a significant amount of tissue stained with blood, and a syringe in a trash can.
An autopsy revealed traces of fentanyl, cocaine, ethanol, and other substances in Mauro’s system, leading the Maricopa County coroner to rule his death as an accidental overdose.
Mauro, who played one season with the Giants in his eight-year NFL career, was just 35 years old at the time of his death.
