Ingraham’s Take on Recent Tragedy

On Friday, during her show’s opening monologue, Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham criticized what she described as a Republican demon responsible for the tragic death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Ingraham asserted that Democrats, particularly former President Joe Biden, contributed to the hostile environment that culminated in the incident earlier this week.

Ingraham referred to this as a “conspirator of hatred.” She highlighted the disconcerting fact that Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin, likely did not act alone, implying he was driven or inspired by larger forces.

Anderson Cooper, CNN Anchor: Do you believe Donald Trump is a fascist?

Kamala Harris (D), former US vice president: Yes, I do.

Reply from Jamie Raskin (D-MD): We must safeguard against the lawlessness and chaos from such figures.

Reply from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY): When labeling Trump as a fascist, it’s important to recognize that this includes elements of racism and extreme nationalism.

Tim Waltz (D-MN): There’s no one more dangerous to our country than Donald Trump; he represents nuclear-level fascism.

Ingraham noted that the FBI discovered bullet casings near the weapon that bore an anti-fascist message. She emphasized that she has repeatedly called out what she perceives as the fascistic nature of certain factions within the Republican party, portraying their rhetoric as harmful and pervasive in political discourse.

She argued that Biden, while perhaps old-fashioned in his approach, had a hand in fanning the flames of hatred with his remarks during a speech at Independence Hall three years ago.

Joe Biden (D), 46th President of the United States: Donald Trump and the Maga Republicans embody extremism that threatens our very foundations.

Ingraham claimed she had been warning the public about the dangers posed by such rhetoric.

Ingraham: They’ve put Biden out there to perform this angry routine. The Democrats are causing genuine harm to America. Their onslaught against our core principles, our judicial system, our sovereignty, the rights of parents in education, and free speech is undeniable. This climate of fear won’t dissipate without political defeat.

Ingraham asserted that Kirk understood this situation better than most—he often welcomed challenge yet found that the opposition fell short.

They had discussed how the left’s violent rhetoric often goes unchecked on her show.

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA: They’re trying to provoke. Democrats are leveraging language intended to coerce Republicans and grassroots activists. It feels as if their administration is crumbling.

Ingraham considered how difficult it is to recognize this truth. She pointed to a culture of extremism and hatred as central to the tragedy. Just weeks before the assassination attempt, Biden had seemingly laid the groundwork for labeling certain threats as needing to be addressed swiftly. This perceived urgency was echoed by various Democrats.

Jasmine Crockett (D-TX): Violence isn’t something that originates from Democrats; it’s particularly about the Maga movement.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ): The most significant acts of terrorism since 9/11 are coming from far-right extremist groups.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Republicans have fueled and accepted violence, especially under Trump’s influence.

Ingraham pointed out more dehumanizing language from the left, suggesting a disconnect between their words and actions. Recent polls indicated that a substantial number of Democrats justified violence for political ends—14% compared to just 6% of Republicans. Additionally, a majority of Democrats believed it was often acceptable to celebrate the demise of political adversaries.

On social media, some of the most troubling reactions to Charlie’s death, according to Ingraham, came from educators and others who should exemplify decency.

One individual, Melvin Earl Villaver Jr., infamously stated after Charlie’s assassination that it was a “beautiful day,” which Ingraham found repugnant. Despite backlash, he hadn’t yet faced disciplinary action.

Ingraham argued that such reactions reveal more about the responders than those they criticize. She also recalled how Sen. Chris Murphy had stoked these sentiments, declaring that only extreme measures could save democracy.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT): The sole chance to save our democracy is to take radical action now.

Ingraham noted that this rhetoric can lead to violent interpretations. Many people, disillusioned or angered, could view such calls as approval to act violently. Contrarily, Nancy Pelosi attempted to downplay any democratic complicity.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): We must be cautious about the implications of our words; not everything leads to violence, though responsibility is key.

Ingraham referenced a shocking poll from last April, where a significant portion of liberals thought it justified to harm figures like Elon Musk or Trump. Kirk had condemned this culture of assassination, blaming it on a toxic mindset within leftist thought. He argued that the left has tolerated violence for years while school officials have exacerbated the situation.

Ingraham concluded that the murderer’s background—Republican or otherwise—doesn’t change the reality of his actions. Robinson’s hatred towards Kirk was fueled by influential voices, demonstrating the need for a shift in rhetoric among some Democrats and leftists. She emphasized the need to stop the cycle of hostility.
