“I was looking for a place that many people aren’t drawn to,” Senator Eric Schmidt remarked during a discussion on Breitbart News Daily.

“It’s a tragic event,” he stated about the political assassination of Kirk. “I knew Charlie pretty well and appeared on his show several times. He brought a distinct perspective to our movement.”

“He sought out places few others would venture. He wanted an open forum and encouraged the exchange of ideas, striving to persuade people. His strong opinions were rooted in a very American idea. You hold beliefs and try to bring others along with you,” he explained.

Schmidt conveyed his sympathy for Kirk’s wife, Erica, and his two young children, noting that Kirk’s murder underscores the tragedy of his dedication to those principles.

He praised Kirk for his exceptional skill in engaging the younger generation, noting that many young people encounter conservative ideas even amidst a predominance of left-wing views on college campuses.

“He was reaching out to younger individuals, and I don’t think it’s coincidental that we saw the figures we did during Trump’s last election,” he reflected. “Charlie Kirk addressed students and made them aware of conservative ideologies.”

Schmidt also highlighted Kirk’s articulate expression of faith, which he felt is somewhat uncommon among people of that age. He remarked on Kirk’s discussion of pivotal concepts that often challenge prevailing cultural narratives.

“What we’ve lost with someone so young, especially for his family and our country, is horrifying,” he said, affirming the importance of honoring Kirk’s legacy by speaking truths.

“It’s a significant loss,” the senator emphasized. “In many respects, it’s an irreplaceable voice.”
