Political commentator Scott Jennings said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris cannot “write off” the mistakes of the Biden-Harris administration.
“Do you agree with the assessment that Donald Trump is still ahead? So the numbers are still on the right trajectory, the wrong trajectory. It’s still an election of change and Vice President Harris is the incumbent,” host Jake Tapper said.
“Yes, I completely agree with you on that point,” Jennings said. “And what they haven’t been able to wipe away, or are trying to wipe away at this convention, is this new TV ad for Kamala Harris, which completely ignores the fact that she’s the sitting vice president, that she’s been at the center of American public policy for many years, that she has a voting record, she has made public statements, she has a record over the last three and a half years.”
He added, “I don’t know how they’re going to work it out. I think at some point she’s going to have to look into a TV camera and answer this question: Can you name one or two things that you think Joe Biden has done wrong? And she’s going to have to decide whether to answer this question or not. And it’s hard because on the most important decisions that he’s made, she was either the last person in the room on Afghanistan or she went up to the Senate and had a runoff election. So I don’t know how she’s going to work it out with him, but if she beats him in the rest of the election, it’s going to be very hard to win.”
