India announced on Tuesday that it had carried out strikes against what it termed “terrorist infrastructure” in two territories of Pakistan.
The Indian army initiated Operation Sindoah, focusing on these terrorist sites within Jammu and Kashmir, an area claimed by Pakistan.
“Our operations are precisely aimed, calibrated, and do not intend to escalate tensions,” the Indian military stated. “We are not targeting Pakistan’s military assets, and we’ve exercised significant restraint in choosing our objectives.”
This military action occurs against a backdrop of rising tensions between the nuclear-armed nations following an attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.
The earlier assault, targeting Hindu tourists in Kashmir, represents one of the deadliest attacks on Indian civilians in nearly two decades, as reported by Reuters.
