Indiana Fever Makes Key Offseason Moves
The Indiana Fever has taken significant steps this offseason to bolster its roster around superstar Caitlin Clark as they aim for the WNBA Championship in the upcoming season.
In a flurry of moves, the Fever has re-signed crucial players Lexi Hull and Kelsey Mitchell while bringing in veteran Monique Billings from the Golden State Valkyries. These changes come on the heels of a playoff run last year, where the Fever fell one game short of reaching the WNBA Finals. Notably, Clark was sidelined for the entire postseason due to an injury.
As Clark prepares to return, Indiana is focusing on enhancing its lineup for the 2026 season by adding experienced players while retaining its core squad.
The Fever currently holds the fourth-best odds to clinch the WNBA title in 2026, trailing behind the Minnesota Lynx, the defending champion Las Vegas Aces, and the New York Liberty.
In an interview, Hull hinted at the Fever’s aspirations for the upcoming season, describing their recent playoff experience. “I think it’s incredible we got this far without some key players. The challenges we faced with injuries really tested our resilience. We had more players in the training room than any other team, and still, we were close to the Finals,” she said.
Reflecting on their near success, she added, “Once you taste that, it shifts your mindset a bit. It’s not overconfidence; it’s a belief that we genuinely have a shot. Every game means something, and we need to prepare as if it’s the last one.” Hull also expressed optimism about the upcoming free agency, remarking, “I think our objectives are quite achievable.”
This past season concluded with a tough 107-98 overtime loss to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 5 of the semifinals. With Clark’s anticipated return from injury, along with the existing strong roster and a new player, Indiana is poised to make a serious run for the title.
