On Tuesday’s broadcast of FOX News Channel’s “America Report,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said, “The auto sector is moving toward EVs,” and China is seeking dominance in the EV market. “We can do it,” he said, “because it’s an economically smart strategy.” There is competition between the US and China, so don’t just sit back and let things happen at their own pace. ”
Co-host John Roberts said, “Tesla’s sales fell 8.5% in the first quarter of this year, and Ford this week laid off two-thirds of its F-150 electric Lightning factory employees and Production has also been reduced.” Due to sluggish sales, the equipment was put in place. EV sales are nowhere near what this president wanted or expected. Yet the regime continues to shove them down consumers’ throats. why? “
Buttigieg responded: “Let me be clear: consumers want and buy more EVs every year than the year before. Let’s be clear that the auto sector is moving towards EVs and we can’t pretend otherwise. …During the Trump administration, China faced further competition in the EV market. They were actually able to build an advantage, not because they’re obviously big environmentalists in China, but just because it was an economically smart strategy. We have been working to bring it back to American soil.”
He added that the push for electric vehicles is “not premature, because each year, more Americans choose electric vehicles than the year before.” And if you look at the research, it’s very rare that someone who rides an electric car wants to go back to old gas car technology. Now, let me be clear: this isn’t for everyone, and it’s not going to happen overnight. Our goal is to have about a 50-50 split in new car sales by the end of this decade. But we can’t just sit back and let things go, because the race is on. Either China or the US will dominate the future of EVs, and we want to make sure it’s the US. ”
