‘Inflation Is Not Coming Down to 2%’ in 2024

On Friday's broadcast of Fox Business Network's “Kudlow,” Breitbart economics editor John Carney predicted that next year's inflation rate would not fall below 2%, saying the latest inflation rate was “lower than the current It’s restrained by the fact that you’re thinking about things.” We will be holding a sale for the October holiday season. ”

“I think it's going to be a soft landing next year, but I don't think so. It's going to be very close to a no-landing,” Carney said. I don't think the inflation rate will go down to 2%. I actually think there are problems with the numbers that we're reading right now, both in terms of employment and inflation. Inflation was subdued as businesses held sales on products ahead of the October holiday season. Walmart, Target, and Amazon all had long holidays in October. The same goes for recruitment. One reason for the poor hiring performance was the seasonally adjusted numbers. ”

Later, after discussing the poor economic poll numbers, Mr. Carney said: [NBER] That's right. They think it's bad economics. And what they're thinking about is, can they afford this year what they could afford last year? And the answer is, no, you can't do that. ”
