Italian Influencer Responds to Critics Over Age Gap Marriage

A 22-year-old Italian influencer has gained attention for her relationship with her 60-year-old husband, challenging critics who label her a “money grab.” The stark 40-year age gap has sparked a mix of reactions online.

Minea Pagni expressed her thoughts, saying, “I think mischaracterizing women’s choices as driven by money is a deeply rooted stereotype. I’ve pursued my own goals and independence. I married him for who he is—his heart, his values, and the way he loves.”

She added that the backlash, while surprising, reflected societal fears rather than the authenticity of their love. Minea and Massimo, a philosophy teacher, reconnected five years after previously meeting in high school.

“I was head over heels for him… we didn’t act on it then, but later, as adults, love blossomed,” she shared on Instagram. They began dating after an unexpected encounter at a bookstore and tied the knot last month.

Pagni captioned a recent Instagram video, which has gained 16 million views, with, “Christmas feels a little sweeter this year… perhaps because I’m with the person of my dreams.” However, some online users doubted her motivations, suggesting financial motives behind their relationship.

“I mean, really, the rent can’t be that high,” one critic quipped.

Minea dismissed the money claims, emphasizing that her connection with Massimo was purely about love. “I found his intelligence, joy, values, and thirst for knowledge incredibly captivating,” she stated.

In another video, Pagni highlighted old photos where Massimo was 45 and she was just a child, which invited comments questioning their relationship dynamics. Critics bemoaned the age difference, with one viewer jokingly noting that Massimo wore an expensive watch.

“He doesn’t own a Rolex—he has two lovely watches I gifted him that he cherishes,” Pagni clarified.

She also described how Massimo supports her presence on social media, stating, “He understands storytelling is part of who I am, and he trusts my vision. We’re aligned in what we share and why it matters.”

Pagni, who is pursuing a medical career, humorously added that while Massimo may not be her official teacher anymore, he’ll always be the “professor of my heart.”
