Brett Hannah Shuford, a well-known influencer and actor from “Broadway Husbands,” has passed away at 46 after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
“With immense sadness, I share that we said goodbye to the most incredible man, husband, and dad this morning,” her husband, Stephen, shared on Instagram.
“Our hearts are shattered, and we hope to continue making him proud,” the post continued.
Hannah Shuford and Stephen, who have a three-year-old son named Maverick, showcased their family journey on their Instagram account, which has garnered 255,000 followers.
The actor, known for his roles in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” received a diagnosis of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and T-cell lymphoma, a condition that compromises the immune system, last summer.
HLH is characterized by an overreaction of the immune system to viruses, leading to an overproduction of immune cells that can inadvertently harm the body, as per the Cleveland Clinic.
T-cell lymphoma is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that originates in the white blood cells crucial for immune function.
Throughout his career, Brett appeared in numerous productions including the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, “Ragtime,” “Wicked,” and “The Little Mermaid.”
According to People magazine, a GoFundMe was launched in August to support the ailing Broadway star, with donations from fellow Broadway talents John Tartaglia and Douglas Sills.
Despite the couple’s hopes for a new beginning in Orlando, the unexpected health challenges led Brett to pause many of his aspirations, including stepping back from a graduate program at UCF, as noted by GoFundMe.
Brett has candidly shared his health struggles on social media, revealing in October that he had been unconscious for three days in the ICU.
“I just want to go home. I miss my husband and son so much. Your love has meant the world to me,” he expressed in a statement.
On Christmas, he managed to post from his hospital bed, sharing well wishes with his followers: “Merry Christmas, everyone! Thank you for your love and support. I can’t wait to see you all in the new year!”
