Information about Alabama basketball player Aden Holloway's arrest comes to light

Aiden Holloway Arrested on Drug Charges

In a recent incident, police discovered just over two pounds of marijuana in the apartment of Aiden Holloway, a guard for the Crimson Tide basketball team, on Monday morning.

Holloway has been arrested on accusations of first-degree criminal possession, a charge that’s illegal in Alabama. Additionally, he faces another felony charge for failing to post tax stamps.

During a search conducted by drug enforcement agents at a residence on East 30th Street, authorities found marijuana stored in vacuum-sealed bags, along with rolling trays and related packaging. It certainly paints a picture of a setup.

According to court records, Holloway indicated he wanted to remain silent but mentioned simply wanting to smoke.

The operation that led to his arrest began early Monday at 8:45 a.m. Holloway was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail shortly after and later released on a $5,000 bond.

On the following day, Holloway, who is the second-leading scorer for the Alabama team, was removed from the roster. This decision came just days before Alabama, holding the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region, is set to play against No. 13 Hofstra in the NCAA Tournament.

As part of the university’s protocol, Holloway will remain sidelined until an investigation by the Office of Student Conduct concludes. It’s challenging to think about how the team will perform without him.

Coach Nate Oats expressed his disappointment, stating, “We have standards in our program and a way of holding our players accountable. Some situations, unfortunately, cannot be managed internally, and this is one of those.” He emphasized the uniqueness of the situation and confirmed the decision to suspend Holloway while they assess the circumstances.

“We care about him and want to support him,” Oats added, as the team prepares to face these upcoming games without Holloway. It’s always a tough situation when personal issues affect team dynamics.

Holloway, standing at 6-foot-1, is in his second season with Alabama, having previously played at Auburn. He’s averaged 16.8 points per game and recently contributed 18 points in a narrow loss to Ole Miss during the SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
