TAKE A PEAK INTO THE ELITE ABYSS

Sometimes, instead of sifting through a bunch of newsletters and trying to piece together a cohesive thought for the day, I check out what’s trending on X and grab the most outrageous news item I can find.

And today? Well, let’s just say, it’s the trending list itself.

Interestingly, most Americans don’t really care about any of this stuff. Sure, they might chuckle or get worked up when they see it on social media, but it’s not at the forefront of their thoughts.

Polls consistently show that issues like the economy, health care, affordability, and immigration still take precedence.

But in the elite bizarro world, these topics—along with Musk’s rather amusing interview with the Economist—are likely to become talking points among the political elite, who, to put it mildly, seem to be a bit too disconnected from everyday reality.

First up is a story from the Associated Press about Nepalese ladyboy sex workers no longer receiving free condoms and lubricant funded by American taxpayers. Apparently, Musk had something to do with it, or so the narrative goes. It’s frankly off-putting. The AP seems to think this is a headline you should care about.

A portion of the AP readership might find it relevant, though that audience probably includes confused college students, feminists, and those involved in NGOs that have seen their funds slashed.

Next, there’s the USA TODAY piece featuring a woman who claims Caitlin Clark’s grievances about WNBA referees are akin to lynching and that she’s endangering Black lives by expecting decency in sports.

If you’re interested, here’s a snippet.

Following Clark’s comments, there’s Sophie Cunningham, who the New York Times says is “doubling down” on her stance that men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports.

A video of her facing tough questions from the media has surfaced, highlighting how the press often struggles to accept reality in this debate.

Interestingly, Sophie’s stance isn’t really controversial. About 70% of Americans seem to align with her perspective. However, it appears that most of the media elite find themselves in the minority.

Then there’s a curious closed-question headline where the answer is simply “Yes.”

Yes, they are. Is it really even a question? Therapists often share the same issues as their clients. Plus, the institutions that train them seem to foster some pretty warped views, perhaps even neo-Marxist ideologies.

Unsurprisingly, they tell kids to distance themselves from their families. This pattern seems to align with what you would expect from those caught up in a somewhat cult-like, damaged ideology. Seriously, a little reading might help clarify things.

As for therapy, especially for men, it often feels hollow. If you want a real therapy experience for men, consider giving them some tools, a group of peers, and a strong task like cutting down trees. Follow that up with a hearty meal and a drink or two, and they’ll generally be just fine.

And for women? Maybe what they need is a strong partner and a loving family to raise.

This encapsulates the current state of elite discourse. Thank goodness it’s Friday.
