Missing Woman’s Sailboat Found in Bahamas

MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas — The search for a missing woman has taken a turn as new details emerge.

The Bahamas Post has released the first images of the sailboat, The Soulmate, that Lynette Hooker and her husband Brian were reportedly using before her disappearance. The boat still displayed a flag reading, “A Pirate’s Life for Me.”

This 45-foot vessel was moored in a cove near Marsh Harbor on Great Abaco Island, close to where 55-year-old Lynette vanished under suspicious circumstances on April 4.

The Post was allowed to explore the boat, gaining insight into the couple’s life. The sailboat housed paddleboards, a grill, training gear, and even a black sail featuring Cookie Monster.

Decorations included worn American flags, Buddha statues, conch shells, and aloe vera—items that reflected a blend of cultures and personal touches.

Essential sailing supplies were also present, such as bungee cords and waterproof footwear. According to Brian Hooker, 59, Lynette went missing after she fell overboard from their dinghy while navigating rough waters near Elbow Cay.

Brian was taken into custody last Wednesday concerning her disappearance but was released on Monday due to a lack of charges. Authorities have mentioned that further charges are possible as the investigation unfolds.

A captain who brought reporters to the area expressed skepticism regarding Brian’s narrative, implying that something felt off about the situation.

This particular cove is known for its calm waters, which typically range from 3 to 14 feet deep. The captain noted that conditions were generally peaceful that day, casting doubt on the need to use a dinghy.

He added, “There’s usually plenty of boats around, so if someone needed help, they wouldn’t be alone out there.”

Interestingly, Brian reportedly left the Bahamas on Wednesday to deal with another family issue, just a day after stating that finding his wife was his main priority.
