A confused doe, grappling with a leg injury, found itself in New York City’s Upper West Side on Tuesday, where it ultimately had to be euthanized by animal control.
The situation unfolded around 10 a.m. at the intersection of West 73rd Avenue and West End Avenue, with people nearby walking dogs and pushing strollers.
At one point, a woman approached the injured deer, seemingly attempting to contain it.
According to reports, the NYPD emergency services team quickly arrived and administered sedation to the deer. Following this, officials from the NYC Animal Care Center transported the animal to their facility.
There, in an effort to alleviate its suffering, the deer was humanely euthanized.
